The Cookie Diner was inspired by The Simpsons and Beethoven.

This is Dave Schram's first appearance in a feature-length movie. He previously appeared in a documentary as an extra.

The MPAA originally gave the film "rated PG for unsuspecting sequences and addiction-related material". The director Daniel dind't agree and filled a lawsuit after trying to argue it down to a G, but it was denied. The MPAA later denied these charges and gave the film a G rating.

Daniel, the director, was originally charged by Matt Groening after the film showed too much of The Simpsons. Daniel was found "not guilty" and Groening dropped the charges.
